Multi-Engine Rating


The multi-engine rating does not require a sophisticated and complexe airplane. The goal is to learn how to the manage the cockpit in an airplane where most of the systems are doubled and acquire the proficiency to properly manage emergency situations specific to the multi-engine configuration.

  • Need a valid private pilot or professional pilot licence
  • A flight test with an examiner from Transport Canada

There is no ground school as such, therefore no written exam.

There is no minimum required flight time, your instructor is sole judge to assess when you are ready to take the flight test.

The in-flight manoeuvres require the level of a good private pilot with the difference that you'll have to manage two engines and a retractable landing gear. You'll have to get to know the intricate detail of your airplane by studying the flight operating handbook and gain the ability to manage failures and emergency situations.
